THINGS TO DO
Shotokan Karate Club
Traditional karate classes with dedicated kids sessions twice a week.
About
Shotokan Karate Club gives separate space to Kihon and Kumite, which are the basics of karate and the different forms of sparring students move through as they progress. That gives this one a more traditional, structured feel than a club that just says "karate" and leaves it there.
The club also gives kata its own section and explains that students are expected to learn the required forms as they move through their gradings. It breaks those down into beginner Heian and Tekki kata before moving into the more advanced syllabus, which is useful if you want something that feels methodical rather than random.
For families, another helpful thing is that the club publishes the SEKU child protection policy it works under. That policy says children and young people make up the majority of membership across affiliated dojos and sets out the safeguarding expectations around coaching and training.
