About
Gibraltar Rugby sits inside a proper union structure rather than a loose kids' sports programme. The Gibraltar Rugby Football Union is the governing body for the sport locally, and its official site says there are four federated rugby clubs in Gibraltar: Ibex Buccaneers, Rock Scorpions, Europa Stormers, and Straits Sharks.
For younger players, the strongest thing is that there is a visible pathway through the game. GRFU’s own updates say the age-grade section has more than 200 players attending regularly, and the union talks openly about developing rugby from age 6 through to adulthood under its 'Gibraltar Way' coaching approach.
Training and match play are centred around Europa Sports Park, and the wider GRFU setup links youth rugby to clubs, representative pathways, and the sport’s ongoing development on the Rock. It comes across as a genuinely established team-sport environment, with a stronger sense of club identity and progression than a one-off weekly activity.
